Many of our incredible animal ambassadors at Wild Encounters have arrived with us after becoming unwanted or in need of temporary or permanent housing. We understand that circumstances can change, and our goal is always to ensure every animal receives the care, respect and second chance it deserves.
We have vast experience in rescuing, rehabilitating and providing forever homes for animals that are unwanted or in need of a new opportunity. Our premises are inspected by an Animal Welfare Officer, and we operate fully in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006, ensuring the highest standards of care and welfare.
To support the health and wellbeing of our animals, we are registered with two veterinarians who specialise in exotic animals, ensuring expert veterinary care is always available when needed.
All animals that arrive with us undergo a 30-day quarantine period. During this time we closely monitor their health, behaviour, diet and temperament to ensure they are thriving and receiving the care they need.
Once quarantine is complete, suitable candidates may go on to become valued members of our educational animal ambassador team, helping us to inspire and educate future generations about the natural world through our animal encounters.
If we are unable to offer a permanent home to an animal, we will always work with you to help find a suitable alternative placement. Through our network of trusted industry partners, who carry out similar rescue and rehabilitation work, we are often able to assist in finding safe and appropriate homes.
Animals We Are Able to House
We are able to consider rehoming enquiries for the following animals:
If you have an animal that may need rehoming and would like to discuss options, please feel free to contact our team for advice and guidance.
Capacity & Welfare Disclaimer
The welfare of every animal in our care is our highest priority. For this reason, our ability to accept animals is dependent on available space, species suitability, and our capacity to meet the individual welfare needs of each animal.
Unfortunately, we are not always able to accept every rehoming request. However, even when we are unable to provide a home ourselves, we will do our best to offer guidance and help connect owners with trusted rescue organisations or experienced keepers who may be able to assist.
Our goal is always to ensure that every animal is placed into a safe, responsible and welfare-focused environment.
Rehoming Exotic Pets in London & the UK
Wild Encounters regularly receives enquiries about rehoming exotic pets, including reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, birds and small mammals. If you have an exotic pet that you can no longer care for, we may be able to help.
We have experience working with a wide range of species including snakes, lizards, tortoises, frogs, invertebrates and other unusual pets, and we understand the specialist care these animals require.
Our team is committed to responsible animal care and education, and many animals that join us go on to become part of our educational animal encounters, helping children and adults learn about wildlife, conservation and responsible animal ownership.
If you are looking to rehome a reptile, amphibian, tortoise, exotic bird or small mammal in London or the surrounding areas, please get in touch with our team to discuss the options available.
